Ingredients | |
2 jars (200 gr. each) | matjes herring, Swedish or Danish style (eg Feature Foods brand spiced matjes herring fillet) |
50 ml | red onion, finesly chopped |
50 ml | leeks (white part), finely chopped |
1-2 tbsp | dill, fresh, chopped |
Kaviar sauce | |
200 ml | crème fraiche (alt: 18% MF or better sour cream) |
1 tbsp (15 ml) | mayonaise |
2 tbsp (30 ml) | Kalles creamed smoked roe caviar (the blue tube, available eg at Denningers) |
Method | |
Drain matjes herring. If it is still in whole fillets, cut into smaller pieces.
Mix crème fraiche/sour cream, mayonaise and caviar. Fold herring pieces into sauce. Garnish with chopped red onion, leeks and dill. Or alternatively, these can also be mixed in with the sauce and herring. |
