Provenance: The music is a very well-known sekstur tune, 358:312, likely composed by Emil Horneman (1809-1870) in København around 1856. It was performed in the musical "Forlovelse i en Wienerkvadrille" [trans: "Betrothal in a Wiener-quadrille"]
The dance was documented by Andreas Otterstrøm at Stolbro Kro (trans: Stolbro pub) about 1923. The music, entitled 'sekstur' followed by Alsinger was transcribed after Niels Nielsen, Guderup. The dance is always followed by 'Alsinger kontra' and danced by the same set of dancers. [FFF, p.55]

On the 1st step, W pass each other face-to-face, then on 2nd step, dancing backwards to original place.

33-48   (c) Tyrolerkast & waltz: Holding inside hands and beginning with a tyrolerkast (step-swing stepping onto outside (ML/WR) foot and swinging inside (MR/WL) foot), all couples take waltz hold with partner and dance turning waltz turning CW and moving CCW once round the set, [14 waltz steps]..
Parts (b) and (c) are the same in all sequences.

Bars Part Dance progression:
1-16 1 (a) Circle: All form closed circle, and circle to L [CW] (1-8), 8 step-hops. Ditto to R [CCW] (-16), 8 step-hops.
17-18   (b) Advance & retire: Beginning with outside (ML/WR) foot, head couples advance, clapping twice, 2 step-hops.
19-21   Head couples take 2-hand hold with opposite, and dance (19-20, M forward, W backward) [ie toward W's original place], 2 step-hops, followed by 1 step-hop in place (21), and
22-24   3 step-hops toward centre of the set (M backward, W forward). Meanwhile, 'sawing' joined arms back and forth.
25-32   Without dropping handhold, the two couples hook elbows as follows: M1 hooks his elbow over his original partner's elbow. W2 hooks her elbow over her original partner's elbow. The 4 dancers turn on the spot once round CCW, both W with 8 step-hops, while the 2 M hop 16 times on R foot with L foot stretched out to L a little off the floor.
17-32   Side couples repeat (b), with M3 and W4 hooking their elbows over their original partner's elbow.
33-48   (c) Waltz: All take waltz hold with partner and dance turning hopsa, turning CW and moving CCW once around the set, 16 hopsa steps.
In sequences 1 and 2, parts (b) and (c) are danced as described above.
In sequences 3 and 4, side couples begin part (b).
In all other respects, parts (b) and (c) are the same in all sequences.
1-16 2 (a) Hopsa: In waltz hold with partner, all dance turning hopsa once around the set, 16 hopsa steps.
1-16 3 (a) W one-hand star: All W form R-hand star with thumb hold and circle to L [CW], 8 step-hops. Ditto in L-hand star, circling to R [CCW], 8 step-hops.
1-16 4 (a) M one-hand star: All M form R-hand star with thumb hold and circle to L [CW], 8 step-hops. Ditto in L-hand star, circling to R [CCW], 8 step-hops.
The dance finishes with part (4 (c)).

Alsinger kontra is always preceded by Alsinger sekstur.

The first tune [in the FFF source], entitled 'sekstur' followed by Alsinger, which also appeared in the first edition of the FFF source, was transcribed by Niels Nielsen, Guderup. The dance is always preceded by 'Alsinger sekstur' and danced with the same partner. [FFF, p.55]
