1-4 (a) Figuré: Facing partner, all dance 4 hopsa steps on the spot, M beginning with L foot, W with R.
5-8   Facing partner, all dance 4 hopsa steps on the spot, M turning 3/4 turn CW, W turning 1-1/4 turn CW, to face opposite.
1-4   Facing opposite, all dance 4 hopsa steps as above.
5-8   Facing opposite, all dance 4 hopsa steps on the spot, M turning 1-1/4 turn CW, W turning 3/4 turn CW, to face partner.
|:9-16:| (b) Ottetalskæde: All dance R-hand chain: M begins with L foot, W with R foot. Give L hand to partner, turn one full turn, then R hand to opposite, turn one full turn, and repeat. Each time M changes, he meets the next W from behind the other M. 16 walking steps.
|:17-24:| (c) Hopsa: All dance hopsa, in a small circle around the opposite couple. 16 hopsa steps.
    Repeat from (a) as desired.

Bars Part Dance progression:
|:1-8:| 1 (a) M inside, W circle outside: All M move to stand in a tight circle in the centre. Meanwhile all W form closed circle and dance around circle of M. 16 running steps CW, 16 running steps CCW. W finish in original place.
|:9-16:|   (b) R-hand chain: All dance R-hand chain to first meeting with partner. 16 step-hops .
If there are fewer or more than 8 couples, stop at 9th person in the chain.
|:17-24:|   (c) Hopsa: All dance hopsa, moving in LOD.
  2 (a) etc Repeat from (1 (a)) as desired. As dance is repeated, alternate between M and W standing in the centre, versus circling outside.

More commonly done now with all couples in a closed circle in (a), often with elbow-hook chain, turning once all way round with each oncoming person (total of 4 elbow hooks) in (b), and tyrolerhopsa in (c).

Type: longways progressive set dance
Formation: longways set for any number of couples, M standing to R, W to L as seen from the music (top of the set).
Steps: hopsa, reel (jig step), hoptrin (step-hop)

Bars Part Dance progression
1-8 (a) Reel: M1 and M2 take 2-hand hold, and dance 8 reel steps, beginning on R foot and swinging L foot behind. Simultaneously, W1 and W2 do the same, but beginning on L foot, and swinging R foot behind.
1-8   Couples 1 and 2 take 2-hand hold with partner, and dance 8 reel steps as above.
|:9-16:| (b) R-hand chain: Couples 1 and 2 chain, couple 1 turning 1/2 turn CW to begin. 16 hoptrin.
|:17-24:| (c) Hopsa: Couples 1 and 2 dance hopsa around each other in a small circle. At the end of the hopsa, the two couples have changed places [ie couple 1 has progressed]. 16 hopsa steps.
    At the next repeat, couple 1 dances with couple 3, while couple 2 rests. In the following repeat, couple 1 dances with couple 4, and couple 2 with couple 3.
If there are many couples, all couples can begin at the same time, dancing as couple 1 and 2 respectively from the top of the set.
