Provenance: Levy Wilsen maintained that this was danced immediately after Norsk fjeldmarch, and that the dancers kept their handkerchiefs in their hands through this dance as well. The tune was commonly known through the first half of the 1800s as a longways progressive set dance called Molinask. It is to be found in Ole Peter Christensens handwritten notebook as no. 100 'Molinaske'.

Provenance: Documented by Erik Jensen (dairy farmer and folk dance instructor), Sakskøbing in 1941, at a pub dance on Fejø. Jensen was on summer holidays on Fejø, and attended the dance together with locals. When he saw that the local fishermen danced 'Den toppede høne' differently from the version he knew he wrote down a description. Then he asked the locals where they had learned this version, they responded that this was how their parents and grandparents had danced it. The original is in the Sørensen's private archive.
