Bars Part Dance progression:
1-8 1 (a) Circle: All circle CW with 12 running steps, then CCW, 12 running steps.
9-16   (b) Couple turn: All take couple hold (eg polska hold) and dance in LOD, 8 polonaise steps.
Part (b) is the same in all sequences.
1-8 2 (a) Chain: All dance R-hand chain, beginning with own partner. 24 running steps. Stop at first meeting with partner.
Note: if one hasn't reached one's own partner by the end of bar 8, the music is extended by playing/plucking the last note sufficient times (3 times per bar, but only 1 in the last bar). It is therefore necessary for the musician(s) to keep an eye on a particular couple, and only begin playing bars 9-16 once that couple has been reunited.
