Steps: svingtrin (buzz step), gangtrin (walk)
Sheet music: (1) 358:562 'Petersen nr.94' efter Madvig Vilsen, or (2) Krak, Kenneth et al/ Læsø - dans & musik. s.l.: Folkemusikhusringen, 1995. pp. 84, 167-169. (3) Grüner-Nielsen, H./ Læsøfolk i gamle dage. (Danmarks Folkeminder Nr. 29) København: Det Schønbergske Forlag, 1924. p.250.
Bars Part Dance progression:
|:1-4:| 1 (a) Circle: All form closed circle and dance CW (1-4), 8 walking steps. Ditto CCW (1-4), 8 walking steps.
[According to Krak, bars 1-4 are only repeated in part (1 (a). Whether or not bars 1-4 are repeated in the subsequent sequences (parts) will depend on which of the music sources above is used.]
5-12   (b) W turn: Both W turn individually CW on the spot, hands on hips, [16] buzz steps. On the last beat, both W put R hand around waist of opposite W, L hand on opposite's upper arm, R sides together.
[The Grüner-Nielsen source, below, gives this as an R-in-R hand hold.]
13-17   Both W turn together on the spot, CW, [10] buzz steps.
5-12   (c) M turn: Both M take R-in-R thumb hold, and circle CW, [16] walking steps.
13-17   Both M place [own] L hand over own R hand, and turn CW on the spot, [10] buzz steps.
Parts (b) and (c) are the same in all sequences.

[then L-hand star, with thumb hold, and dance CCW on the spot, 8 walking steps (1-4)].
[The Grüner-Nielsen source describes this as only turning CW.]
1-4 6 (a) 2-hand star: All 4 dancers form 2-hand star and dance CW on the spot, 8 walking steps (1-4), [and CCW, 8 walking steps (1-4)].
1-4 7 (a) Circle: Repeat 1 (a).
1-4   Swing partner: The dance finishes with couples in waltz/polska hold dancing CW on the spot, 16 buzz steps.

Notes:
-- in 2-couple dances, the normal sequences (parts) on Læsø are collapsed, namely one-hand stars for M and W and two-hand stars for M and W, and closed circles for M and W are eliminated, resulting in only 8 sequences (parts).
-- sometimes the musician would add a few beats before beginning the next sequence (part).
-- Pedersen|Petersen is always followed by 3-4 strokes on the violin bow and then Enkelt kæde fra Læsø.
-- according to the Grüner-Nielsen source, a variant of the same tune, somewhat expanded, is found in a manuscript nodebook from Himmerland, in which it is entitled 'Petersens dans'.
-- while Petersen is now one of the best known tunes on Læsø, in previous centuries it was known in many other parts of Denmark.
