Bars Part Dance progression:
1-2 (a) Couple 1, beginning with L foot, casts down around couple 2, 2 waltz steps.
Couple 1 finishes between couples 2 and 3.
3-8   Couples 1 and 3 circle once round CW, 6 waltz steps.
1-2   Couple 1 casts up around couple 2, M turning CW and W turning CCW, 2 waltz steps.
3-8   Couples 1 and 2 circle once round CW, 6 waltz steps.
9-16 (b) Couple 1 cross over giving R hands, cast down around couple 2, cross over as if giving L hands, and cast down behind couple 3 (9-14), 6 waltz steps.
Finishing behind couple 3, M1 and W1 peak at each other, first over L shoulder then over R shoulder of respectively M3 and W3 (15-16).
9-16   Couple 1 dances back to place retracing previous route, crossing over first as if giving L hand, and then crossing over as if giving R hand, 8 waltz steps.
|:17-24:| (c) Couples 1 and 2 take waltz hold with partner and dance CCW around each other. Couple 1 finishes in couple 2 place. 16 waltz steps.
    When the music repeats from (a), couple 1 dances with couples 3 and 4 while couple 2 rests.
Alternatively, couples 1, 4, 7, etc. can all start part (a) simultaneously.
    When a couple reaches the second last position in the set, they dance as follows:
1-8 (a) Couple 1 casts down around last couple, and circles once round CW with last couple. 8 waltz steps.
1-8   Couple 1 casts up around last couple, and circles once round CW with last couple. 8 waltz steps.
9-16 (b) Couple 1 crosses as if giving R hand. M1 continues CW around last W, crosses again as if giving R hand, and CCW behind last M. Meanwhile, W1 continues CCW around last M, crosses again as if giving R hand, and CW behind last W. 8 waltz steps.
9-16   Couple 1 retrace their cross-overs as above, 8 waltz steps.
|:17-24:| (c) Couple 1 and last couple take waltz hold with partner and dance CCW around each other. Couple 1 finishes as last couple. 16 waltz steps.

Provenance: Sørensen (see below) speculates that 'seksture' of this type, a progressive longways set, emerged in Denmark at the beginning of the 1800s, as part of the very popular 'contredanses anglaise' or 'engelske danse'.
