Bars Dance progression I

|:1-8:| (a) Couples 1 and 2 dance R-hand chain, beginning with R hand to partner, L hand to opposite, R hand to partner and change places with partner. 8 hopsa steps, beginning with ML/WR foot.
Finish, the two couples having changed places, in own lines.

9-16 (b) Couples 1 and 2 take 2-hand hold with partner and dance down between the lines, 1 skotsktrin away from the top of the set and 1 skotsktrin towards the top. [Note: 1 skotsktrin is danced over 4 bars of music]

9-16 Repeat (b).

|:1-8:||:9-16:| Repeat from (a) as desired.
Couple 1 begins first repeat dancing with couple 3, while couple 2 stands over.
At second repeat, couple 1 begins dancing with couple 4, while couple 2 begins with couple 3, etc.

Bars Dance progression II It can also be danced as follows:

1-8 (a) Couples 1 and 2 dance half-chain across without giving hands.

1-8 Couples 1 and 2 take waltz hold with partner and swing partner on the spot, 8 buzz steps.
M begins the swing with a small stamp.
Finish, the two couples having changed places, in own lines.

9-16 (b) Couples 1 and 2 take 2-hand hold with partner and dance down between the lines, 1 skotsktrin away from the top of the set and 1 skotsktrin towards the top. [Note: 1 skotsktrin is danced over 4 bars of music]
