Rasmus Henriksen's original description: Herrerne på venstre og damerne på højre undtagen den øverste herre skifter med sin dame så chance 2 gange og 2 gange og klappe og ude.
1-8 (a) Change places: Couple 1 takes waltz hold and dances turning waltz 1-1/2 times round to finish in opposite line.
9-16 (b) Advance, retire & waltz: M1 & W1 advance toward partner, and retire, with tyrolervals steps (9-12). Repeat (13-16).
Finish with a clap, and W1 facing M2, while M1 faces W2.
9-16   M1 with W2, and W1 with M2, dance turning waltz twice round [the other couple, 8 waltz steps].
Couple 1 finishes in couple 2's places, but in opposite lines. Couple 2 finishes in own lines, having progressed 1 place up the set.
Couple 1 repeats (b), now clapping to and waltzing with couple 3. With each repeat, couple 1 repeats (b), now clapping to and waltzing with couple each couple in turn down the set.
When couple 1 has finished dancing with couple 3 and moved on to couple 4, couple 2 begins dancing part (a).
The dance continues until all couples have returned to original places.
[Alternatively, all odd numbered couples may begin dancing part (a) to move to opposite line, and dance (b) successively with all even-numbered couples, until all couples are in original places.]
Waltz: Aabech suggests finishing the dance with all couples taking waltz hold with partner, and dancing turning waltz around the floor, to a suitable waltz tune.

Provenance: Around the 1810s, when the waltz was a new dance, Lars Olsen's (the elder) handwritten notebook from Martofte contained more than a hundred waltz tunes, of which one was entitled 'Spansk vals'. The tune was typical for its, written in 8ths notes, and likely danced in a more tripping style than it would be currently. In the 1870s in Copenhagen a number of dance teachers produce books of dance descriptions, among which one finds 'Spansk vals'. Around 10 years earlier, Rasmus Henriksen had noted the description above. Beginning 1989-1990 a study circle on Hindsholm worked on reconstructing the old dances from the local area, based on Rasmus Henriksen's notebook, of which this is one such reconstruction.
The above is my interpretation of the description of the reconstruction, as described in the source below. Other interpretations are, of course, possible.
