Provenance: According to Aabech, [on Fyn] it "first appears in musicians' notebooks around 1900. In the older versions, the order was first march [promenade], then hopsa, and finally waltz. At first glance it may seem wrong to play the fast hopsa before the slow waltz, but if one plays the whole old tune with the same speed, or 'pulse', the hopsa becomes slower and more schottische-like, and the waltz becomes faster and more like a trippevals, and can readily be used. The contemporary version (promenade, waltz, hopsa) which appears a little later in the 1900s, is normally played as a potpurri. It also occurs in Norway and Scotland.
