Bars Sequence Dance progression
|:1-8:| (a) Both lines dance 8 slow balancé steps, [facing partner] and beginning with R foot.
9-12 (b) M and L give R hands, and change places CW, 2 chassé steps, beginning with R foot. Maintain handhold.
13-16   Deep curtsey/bow to partner.
9-16   Repeat (b) to return to place.
|:17-24:| (c) Holding inside hands, all turn away from the front, and dance 4 chassé steps forward. Turn on a 5th chassé step (M to R, W to L, [ie towards partner]), take new inside hands and dance back to place with 3 chassé steps.
25-32 (d) M two by two take L hand hold (W hooking L arm in partner's R arm), and circle CCW. 4 chassé steps.
25-32   Couples turn CCW, without dropping hold with partner, and W two by two take R hand hold and circle CW. 4 chassé steps, to return to place.
33-40 (e) Couples two by two dance R-hand chain (R hand to partner, L hand to next etc.). 4 chassé steps.
33-40   M two by two take L elbow hook (W hooking L arm in partner's R arm), and circle CCW. 4 chassé steps.
41-48 (f) Couples turn CCW, without dropping hold with partner, and W two by two take R elbow hook and circle CW. 4 chassé steps, to return to place.
41-48   Couples take waltz hold, and the two couples dance 1-1/2 times around each other with 4 polka steps, so that they finish having changed places.
    Repeat from (a) as desired.
When the dance resumes, couple 1 dances with couple 3, etc.
