Provenance: Originally a dance for 3 couples. First known occurence of sheet music and a dance description is nr 4 "La Caprieceux" in a handwritten musician's notebook from Copenhagen dated 1753. Also found in Svabo's Nótabók from 1775 as 'Lille Caprisose" and in Berggreen, A.P./ Danske folkesange og melodier: med et tillæg af Islandske og Færøiske. 3:e opl. Reitzels Forlag, 1869 [see below]. Berggreen identifies the source of the tune, dated 1843, only as "copied from the notebook of a musician from Jylland" [Berggreen p.270], more specifically Vendsyssel.
