Formation: open circle of couples, facing in LOD, holding inside hands or open waist shoulder hold
Steps: potkumasurkka/polkamasurkasteg, masurka or vanhavalssi
Note: 'potkumasurkka' is both the Finnish name for a step used in the dance, as well as the name of the dance.
Bars Part Dance progression:
1-3 (a) Promenade: Beginning with outside (ML/WR) foot, dance 3 potkumasurkka steps forward in LOD.
4   M swings partner in a half-circle CCW to his L side. W dance 3 quick running steps, M ditto on the spot.
1-4   Repeat (a) with opposite footwork, and swinging partner CW to MR side.
|:5-8:| (b) Paripyörintä (couple turn): In waltz hold, dance 8 masurka or vanha valssi steps, turning CW (or CCW or both alternatingly), moving in LOD.
In Finström this is danced with closed waist-shoulder hold, turning 4 mazurka steps CW followed by 4 mazurka steps CCW.
Repeat from (a) as desired.
