Hamburska, Finström, Åland Islands and Finländsk hambo (general)
Formation: open circle of couples, facing LOD, holding inside hands, free hand at waist Steps: hamburska, springsteg (run) Hold: closed waist-shoulder hold, or hamburska hold (M places R arm around partner's waist, and L arm sharply bent, palm up, on partner's R upper arm. W places R elbow in partner's L hand, and both hands on partner's upper arms) In western Nyland (Pojo & Bromarv), the following hold is occasionally used: M holds a kerchief with both hands behind partner's back, and W has even [sic} held her hands behind M's back. In Kimito it is danced with waltz hold. [See Heikel.] |
