Formation: couples in open circle, waltz hold.
Steps: puolijuoksu (half-way between a run and a walk) polkua (stamp/stomp)
Bars Part Dance progression:
1-4 (a) Paripjörintä (couple turn): In waltz hold, couples [beginning with outside (ML/WR) foot] turn CW, 8 half-run steps.
5-6 (b) Päristelyllä (progression): Holding inside hands, couples dance forward in LOD, 4 half-run steps.
7-8   M dances in an arc CCW [over L shoulder], with following stamping sequence: M leaps onto L (7:1), stomps R (7:&), leaps onto R (7:2) and stomps L (7:&), leaps onto L (8:1), and stomps R twice (8:&,8:2). Meanwhile W dances forward in LOD with 4 small half-run steps.
M finish facing next W in RLOD (=new partner); W finish facing next M in LOD (=new partner)
Repeat from (a) as desired.

Formation: couples in open circle, holding inside hands, facing LOD.
Steps: puolijuoksu (half-way between a run and a walk) polkua (stamp/stomp)
Bars Part Dance progression:
1-2 (a) Promenade: Couples, holding inside hands and beginning with outside foot, walk 4 half-run steps forward in LOD, both starting with outside (ML/WR) foot. Joined arms are forward.
3-4   Couples walk 4 half-run steps forward in LOD, both starting with outside (ML/WR) foot. Joined arms are swung back towards RLOD.
5-6 (b) Progression: M walks in an arc CCW [over L shoulder], while W walks in an arc CW [over R shoulder], ie away from each other. Finish facing partner. 4 half-run steps.
7-8   M leaps onto L (7:1), stomps R (7:&), leaps onto R (7:2) and stomps L (7:&), leaps onto L (8:1), and stomps R twice (8:&,8:2).
Note: when done as a mixer, M loops as above, moving to second oncoming W in RLOD (=new partner). Meanwhile, W dances small half-run steps forward in LOD to finish facing second M in LOD (=new partner) (5-8).
Repeat from (a) as desired.

Provenance: Nikolai Vahterov taught the dance at at course in Karelian folk dances in Järvenpää, Uusimaa, in 1996. Viola Malmi had taught the same dance at a course in Mikkeli, Etelä-Savo, in 1995, but with progression immediately after the paripjörintä. Taught by Irene Ala-Jukuri, at Grand Finn Festival 2010 in Sault Ste. Marie, ON
