Type: progressive longways set dance (in a circle)
Formation: open circle of couples, facing into circle. W stands to L of partner, holding inside hands. Couple 1 has backs to music and couples are numbered CW from couple 1 to couple n.
[Alternatively, for recreational dancing, form 2 concentric circles of couples, inner circle (odd numbered couples) facing out, outer circle (even numbered couples) facing in, and all couples start dancing simultaneously. ]
Steps: kävelyä (walk) or small running steps. polkua (rhythmic stamp/stomp), scuff steps.

Bars Part Dance progression:
1-4 1 (a) Vastuu: Couple 1 [the active couple] turns to face couple to it's L [Ie oouple one face out of circle, all other couples face in]. Both couples swing joined hands forward (1) and back (2), with small steps on the spot. Repeat (3-4).
5-6   (b) Paripyörintä: Taking upper arm hold with partner, turn once round CW on the spot, 4 running steps.
1-4 2 (a) Läpikäynti: Drop hold, pass through opposite couple, W passing on the inside, while turning over R shoulder and swinging bent arms up, then down while turning over R shoulder, into opposite place. 4 running steps (1-2). Repeat to return to place, M passing on inside (3-4).
5-6   (b) Paripyörintä: Repeat (1 (b)) with opposite.
1-4 3 (a) Portit: Couples 1 and 2, holding inside hands with partner, change places by couple 1 forming an arch, couple 2 passes under it, 4 walking steps. In opposite place, turn towards partner, taking new inside hands and facing into the set (1-2). Repeat to return to place, couple 2 forming the arch, couple 1 passing under it (3-4) 4 running steps.
5-6   (b) Paripyörintä Couple 2 turns CW on the spot, 4 running steps. Meanwhile, couple 1, holding inside hands, moves to face next couple in CW direction with 4 running steps.
    Repeat from (1 (a)) as desired. [On repeat of (1 (a)) couple 1 dances with 3rd couple in CW direction. On second repeat of (1 (a)), couple 1 dances with 4th couple in CW direction, while couple 2 (another active couple) dances with 3rd couple, etc. Continue until all couples have danced with all other couples in the set and returned to place.]
[Throughout, inactive couples/dancers may dance scuff and/or stamp/stomp sequences in place in time to music.]

|:1-4:| 2 (a) Läpikäynnit: Couples 1 and 2 drop hold, pass opposite face to face, finish to R of opposite, and immediately change direction turning individually once round CW, finishing in opposite place. 4 steps. Repeat to return to place (3-4), 4 steps. Repeat(2 (a)), 8 steps.

Repeat arches (1-4), 8 steps.
