Sheet music: Ma commèr, quand je danse, attributed to Nicolas Chédeville ((1705-1782). In Danish, known as 'Min morlil når jeg danser' or 'Kære moder, når jeg danser'.

Bars Part Dance progression:
|:1-4:| 1 (a) Advance and retire: Couples 1 and 2, beginning with ML/WR foot, advance and retire with 2 pas de gavotte (1-4). Repeat (1-4).
5-12 (b) M2 and W1 advance with 2 step-hops (5-6) and 2 vippetrin to R then L (7-8), give R hands, and circle once round CW, 4 demi-contretemps or pas de bourée.
Finish in original place.
5-12   M1 and W2 repeat (b).
    Part (b) is the same in all sequences.
|:1-4:| 2 (a) Figuré (frolic): All advance diagonally L, so as to finish R shoulder to R shoulder with partner (1-2). Retire diagonally R to original place (3-4).

|:1-4:| 5 (a) R-hand/L-hand star: All form R hand star and circle CW, 4 step-hops or par de bourées (1-4). Repeat in L-hand star circling CCW.
|:1-4:| 6 (a) Closed circle: All form closed circle, and circle CW, 4 step-hops or pas de bourées (1-4). Repeat circling CCW.
|:5-12:}   The dance finishes with part (b).

Provenance: Feüillet says unequivocally in his Recueil de contredances (1706) that figures that advance and retire (or retire and advance) are always danced with pas de gavotte, figures that move side to side are always danced with chassé de côté (side-steps or gallops), and round figures (figures that circle CW or CCW) may be danced with demi-contretemps (step-hops) or pas de bourée, but that demi-contretemps is more usual.
