Each time the music is repeated, M dances the first polka step in (a) on the spot [Semp 1971 maintains M dance it backwards], as W move forward to next M, and dance continues with new partner. Provenance: According to Tracie, "Klappdans is a Nordic counterpart of a little polka found all over Europe, involving hand-clapping and finger-pointing. Every land seems to have one or more versions, to essentially the same tune. This variant from Norway, virtually identical to the one from Sweden, is a dance-game with song. In Norwegian villages it has long been known as 'Ungersveinen og jomfruva' and is sung while dancing." Lyrics:
