Provenance: As far as currently known, the first detailed sextour description to have been formally published was in Vilhelm Balling's Anvisning til at danse ... (1975). The sheet music is from Hans Peter Christensen's manuscript notebook, dated to 1846-1847 in Copenhagen, where Christensen was a soldier. His notebook contains about 300 tunes, of which several are seksture.
There are numerous sekstur tunes in the old manuscript notebooks. Some instances of the same tune have repetition signs, while others do not. The Sørensens have elected to not include repetition signs.
As no steps are specified in the original description, the Sørensens have provided suggestions as to steps that may be used in the dance, and that are appropriate to the time period.

Provenance: Hamborg notes that not many on Thy know the dance now, but some of the elderly from Sydthy still remember it. The same tune was also used for Familiesekstur and when Trekantet sløjfe was requested a second time, by [prolonged] clapping for the musicians.

Provenance: Rasmus Henriksen, Viby, noted descriptions of popular dances of the 1860s in a snall black notebook around 1863. These dances were possibly devised by a dance teacher, possibly in Copenhagen, and have also been found in a manuscript notebook from 1861 written by Jens Hansen. The above is a reconstruction of the dance by Danse Studie Kredsen [in Hindsholm?], based on the description by Rasmus Henriksen. The music was composed by the German composer C.A. Po[h]lenz and used by H.C. Andersen in "Ole Lukøje. Eventyr-Comedie i tre Acter" which had its premier at Casinoteateret in Copenhagen in March 1850, and became immensly popular. In Hindsholm, it is only to be found in Jens Hansen's manuscript notebook from 1861 on.
