Provenance: Klappdansen was one of the dances taught by Hugo Dahl from Kimito at Suomalaisen Kansantanssin Ystävät – Finska Folkdansens vänner in Helsingfors in 1901. The dance description was published in the first published collection of Finnish folk dances Suomalainen kisapirtti – Finska lekstugan in 1905. The dances were accompanied by illustrations. Provenance: In Pohjanmaa/Österbotten and western Finland the dance was called 'Nyrkkipolkka' and was the same as 'fingerpolka' in the Swedish-speaking parts of Finland. In Satakunta, Savo, and south Karelia it was similar and called 'Kymmentä kynttä'. The same dance has also been known as 'Flatikkapolkka' and 'Reisipolkka'.
