Formation: even number of couples facing couples in two lines, holding inside hands. Couples to the left (counting from the music) are odd-numbered (1, 3, 5, etc), while couples standing to the right are even-numbered (2, 4, 6, etc)

Bars Part Dance progression:
1-4 1 (a) Ristai: While W dance to opposite place with 8 running steps, passing L shoulders on the inside, and turning CW (around R shoulder) to face into set. Meanwhile, M dance to centre between the two opposing lines, with 4 running steps, and turn 1/4 turn CW towards opposite M.
5-8   [Once W have passed,] M dance an additional 4 running steps forward, passing opposite M by R shoulder.
9-12   W dance 8 running steps back to place, between the men.
Meanwhile, M dance an additional 4 running steps curving around CW to pick up partner on his R side as she passes and holding inside hands, dance 4 running steps with partner back to place.
13-16   Paripyörintää (couple turn): Couples take skewed waltz hold with ML/WR arms stretched out, and turn with 8 running steps CW on the spot.
1-4   (b) Tyttöjen juoksu (W cross): W dance 8 running steps across to opposite M, take skewed waltz hold with ML/WR arms stretched out.
5-16   Paripyörintää (couple turn): Couples dance 16 running steps turning CW on the spot, and 8 running steps CCW.
1-16   W repeat (1 b) to return to original place.
1-3   (c) Pojat keskelle (M cross): M dance 6 running steps toward opposite M.
4   M stamp twice, turn one-half turn CCW.
5-8   M run back to place, 8 running steps.
9-16   Paripyörintää (couple turn): Couples take skewed waltz hold and dance 8 running steps CW on the spot. Ditto CCW.
1-16   (d) Tyttöjen juoksu & kierto (W dos-à-dos): W repeat (1 b) to opposite place.
1-8   W advance, dance a sideways dos-à-dos with opposite W, and return to partner. 16 running steps.
9-16   Paripyörintää (couple turn): Couples take skewed waltz hold and dance 8 running steps CW on the spot. Ditto CCW.
1-4 2 (a) Pareittain paikanvaihto (couples cross over): Couples take courtesy/promenade hold , and dance 8 running steps to opposite place.
5-16   Paripyörintää (couple turn): Couples dance 24 running steps turning CCW on the spot.
1-4   (b) Pojat keskelle (M R-elbow hook w opposite): M advance 8 running steps, and take R-elbow hook with opposite M.

9-16   16 running steps backwards, ie CCW on the spot.
1-4   (c) Tytöt keskelle (W R-elbow hook w opposite): W advance 8 running steps, and take R-elbow hook with opposite W, and hold L-hand in L-hand.
5-16   W turn 8 running steps turning CW, and 16 running steps backwards turning CCW.
Meanwhile, M dance outside the women, 8 running steps back to place.
1-4   W return to own partner, 8 running steps.
5-16   Paripyörintää (couple turn): Couples take R-elbow hold, and dance 8 running steps turning CW on the spot, and 16 running steps backwards turning CCW on the spot.
1-4 3 (a) Portit (arches): Odd-numbered M singly and even-numbered couples in crossed-back hold, advance with 4 steps. M sneaks between the opposite couple, and both continue to opposite sides.

5-8   Odd-numbered M turns into set and stays in opposite line. Meanwhile, even-numbered couple retreats to in front of odd-mumbered W, and
9-16   Paripyörintää (couple turn): turns CW on the spot, 8 steps, and CCW, 8 steps, then swing W and return to original place, in cross-back hold.
1-4   (b) Odd-numbered M and even-numbered couples [making an arch] pass through back to original place.
5-16   Paripyörintää (couple turn): In crossed-back hold, all turn 8 running steps CW on the spot, followed by 16 running steps CCW.
|:1-16:|   Even-numbered M and odd-numbered couples repeat (3 (a) and (b)),
1-8 4 (a) Piiri (circle): Couples 1 and 3, holding hands, advance 8 running steps to couples 2 and 4. All four couples form closed circle, couples 1 and 3 drawing the circle out dancing backwards 8 running steps.
9-16   All couples dance 8 running steps CW, followed by 8 running steps CCW.
1-8   (b) The 4 M form closed circle in the centre, and stand still.
Meanwhile, the 4 W dance 16 running steps CW around the men,
9-16   followed by 16 running steps CCW, finishing behind and to R of own partner.
1-16   (c) W swing joined hands over heads of M to form front basket. All dance 16 running steps turning CW, followed by 16 running steps CCW.
1-16   W swing joined hands backwards over heads of M, and M swing joined hands backward over W's heads to form new front basket. All dance 16 running steps turning CW, followed by 16 running steps CCW.
1-16   Basket is dissolved, and all form closed circle. All dance 16 running steps turning CW, followed by 16 running steps CCW.
